Code of Conduct - Soustons - Summer 2011/2012
Equipment
Equipment will be of acceptable levels to allow safe operation of activities and will conform to any statutory limits on age or standards, which may be laid down by the Ministry for youth and Sports.
Sailing & Windsurfing
All instructors teaching either windsurfing or sailing at Soustons will have as a minimum requirement the status of qualified instructor and hold valid current certificates supporting that status issued by the appropriate NGB which is the Federation Francais de Voile (FFV), the equivalent of the Royal yachting association (RYA) in Britain. The instructors are either qualified as "Moniteurs de la federation", or "Moniteurs de l'Etat" and they teach to ratios laid down by the FFV, which is a maximum of 15 people per instructor for windsurfing and 12 boats per instructor for sailing. Wearing of Buoyancy aids is compulsory for both sports.
Canoeing
Instructors teaching canoeing will have as a minimum requirement the status of qualified instructor and hold valid current certificates supporting that status and issued by the National Governing Body (NGB) which is the equivalent in France of the Federation Francaise de Canoe-Kayak (FFCK), which in turn is equivalent to the British canoeing Union (BCU) in Great Britain.
The instructors will teach methods laid down by the FFCK and within the ratios laid down by the FFCK, which is a maximum of 16 people per instructor. Wearing of buoyancy aids is compulsory for participants in this sport.
Surfing & Bodyboarding
Instructors teaching these sports will have as a minimum requirement, the status of qualified instructor and hold valid current certificates supporting that status and issued by the NGB which in France is the Federation Francaise de Surf et Skate (FFSS).
The instructors will teach methods laid down by the FFSS and within the ratios laid down by the FFSS which is a maximum of 8 people per instructor. Participants will wear either wet suits or a rash vest as appropriate. The body board itself, which is secured to the participant by a leash, acts as a buoyancy aid.
